Big Nate: In a Class by Himself (Hardcover)

Some local valley kids have dedicated themselves to making sure their peers know what's hot (and what's not) by reading new books ahead of time and giving us the scoop.
Here's one such sneak peek courtesy of Cade Cyphers, age 9:
Big Nate: In a Class by Himself - "One morning, Nate gets a fortune cookie from his friend Francis. Ever since then, Nate has been trying to "surpass all others" as the fortune cookie told him he would. But Nate has been working too hard at that, and at the end of the day he ends up in the detention room with seven detentions. The author of this book definitely has some imagination. I'd give this book 5-stars! I like this one even more than Diary of Wimpy Kid!"

She cannot rid herself of them, nor can she ignore them. But it is her insistence on responding to them that has her banished to her grandmother's secluded countryside manor.

Different Learners with Jane Healy
About the Program:
Learning abilities—and differences—result from a complex interaction of genetics, brain development, and a child’s experiences at home and school. We will explore this “nature-nurture” interaction in some of the variations—such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autistic spectrum disorders--which cause problems with academic, emotional, and social learning. Parents and teachers will learn specific strategies for creating successful learning environments to benefit all children. Child Care Provided

Storytime with Children's Author, Sandy Fuller
The Bookworm has invited the Edwards Elementary kindergarten class to a very special storytime with our very own Sandy Fuller. Sandy, children’s literary agent and Bookworm bookseller, helped to bring "The BLUES Go Birding" to life with illustrator Louise Schroeder and long-time educator, birder, and writer Carol L. Malnor.
With a unique combination of cartoon and realism, this new book introduces young children to the BLUES, five adventurous bluebird friends who will tickle the fancy of young children while introducing them to the birds of America and birdwatching as a delightful outdoor sport. In The BLUES Go Birding Across America children will laugh as they follow the travels of Bing, Lulu, Uno, Eggbert, and Sammi while they discover an amazing variety of birds. This book is an imaginative travelogue as well as a young person’s first bird book!
This event is FREE and open to kids ages 5 to 7!
