Green Drinks at The Bookworm

The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability brings Green Drinks to The Bookworm for an evening of good food, good drink, and sustainable conversation.

This month's Green Drinks will feature acoustic open mic! So cultivate awareness, live sustainably and enjoy wonderful local talent on Friday, February 19 at 6 pm.

Complementary organic appetizers, wine and beer will be served. We are especially excited to introduce the new YB Wines, made with 100% organic hand-picked grapes and packaged in a super-green Tetra Pak.

This event is brought to you by the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability and The Bookworm of Edwards.

Local musicians and performers are welcome to share their work at this unplugged event. Sign up starts at 5:30.

The Vail Symposium's Film Series Presents "180° South"

Experience an adventure of the ages and discover the power of the human spirit to save the last wild place on Earth. This film follows Jeff Johnson retracing the steps of the  legendary 1968 trip of Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins from California to Patagonia. Vail Symposium Event: Colorado Mountain Passes with Rick Spitzer

Rick Spitzer, a Colorado native, is the first photographer to collect panoramic images of Colorado’s mountain passes. His recent book, "Colorado Mountain Passes," provides views of the most well-known passes in the state and includes photos and text about the history, lore, wildlife and scenery that make each pass unique.

Book Drive for Read Across America Day

The National Education Association's Read Across America Day, NEA's national reading celebration, takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! The Bookworm is celebrating with a book drive to benefit The Youth Foundation’s Magic Bus. Bring a new or gently used children’s book to The Bookworm today and help spread the love of reading in our valley.

The Women's Foundation of Colorado Presents a Screening of the Film "Playground"

The Women's Foundation of Colorado and its Vail Valley Regional Steering Committee invite you to a screening of "Playground", a documentary about the commercial child sex industry in America.
 
In this ground-breaking documentary film, director Libby Spears illuminates the often invisible practice of commercial sexual trafficking of American children. In an elegant and thought-provoking film, Spears tells survivors' heartbreaking stories of survival and engages viewers in a nuanced discussion of the implications of this growing problem.

The Vail Symposium Presents "Arts Inc." with Bill Ivey

Bill Ivey, the former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, assesses the current state of the arts in America. His recent book, Arts, Inc: How Greed and Neglect Have Destroyed Our Cultural Rights, “examines our emerging culture and how it may lead to a looming crisis. The expanding footprint of copyright, an unconstrained arts industry marketplace, and a government unwilling to engage culture as a serious arena for public policy have come together to undermine art, artistry and cultural heritage—the expressive life of America.”
